__I’ve gone back and forth in my head as to whether I should write this.__

The plan was to write about something else today. You know, something that relates more closely with our finances, of course. But the Holy Spirit is pulling my heart in another direction…

I’ve probably written about this before: that the closer relationship I now have with Christ didn’t happen until I joined the Set Your House in Order (SYHIO) financial discipleship Bible study back in 2020.

I’d been a believer for 20 years up to that point, but only then did I realize I didn’t truly *know* the Lord like I should have. And I’m glad that now I do.

__However, I sit here very disappointed with myself…__

Although since participating in SYHIO I’ve been filled with more boldness to share with others that I am a Christian, that God is good, to proclaim what He’s done for me and to tell them I pray for them—whether they believe in God or not—in many ways, I have fallen short.

I’m sure (if you are a believer) you can relate that whenever a friend or loved one passes away, it’s sad, of course. But there is comfort when we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they’re going to Heaven. On the other hand, it’s torturous when we know they’re not going there, or when we’re just not sure.

I struggle with that every so often.

I do share my testimonies or words of encouragement with them in hopes that they will choose Jesus, but sometimes, there is still that fear.

The fear that they will get angry with me. The fear that they’ll think I’m some sort of “Jesus freak.” The fear that they eventually may not want to have anything to do with me.

__So, out of fear, I stay quiet and decide not to share what’s on my heart.__

The only problem is… every time someone I know is fighting for their life or passes away, the first thought that comes to my mind is: *I hope s/he was saved.* Then, here come the shoulda, coulda, wouldas…

*I should have tried to invite them to church. I could have prayed with them more. I would have said something sooner, had I known they didn’t have much time left.*

As a believer, part of my job is to be a disciple. To share the good news about God sacrificing His Son for us to be saved and have eternal life. To lay hands on the sick. To baptize others in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (__[Matthew 28:19-20](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+28%3A19-20&version=NKJV)__). To strive to be more like Christ. To make other disciples. But sometimes, I try to start this job too late…

I’ll never forget the Sunday morning when Pastor Sean, a senior pastor at my church, said to the congregation: “The only thing better than Heaven is getting there and having your family there with you.” But on the contrary, he pointed out how devastating it would be to get to Heaven and not have your family there with you…

Pastor Sean reminds us of this all the time: You don’t become clean and then give your life to Jesus. You give your life to Jesus, and then He makes you clean. He loves and accepts us just as we are, but He loves us enough not to leave us the way we are.

Assure them that they don’t have to be perfect before they come to the Lord. None of us is perfect. We make mistakes. But the best thing about making mistakes is that God is gracious enough to give us a second chance… more than that, really.

__So, where are you going?__

I think that’s the most important question in life.

Will you be spending eternity in Heaven? In the end, that’s what really matters.

And for believers, the next most important question is: *Where are they going?*

Whenever that fear that I mentioned starts to creep back up, I want to do my best to push past it. I think I’d rather risk someone I know and care about getting annoyed with me for telling them about the Lord so they can have the opportunity to be saved than to face the possibility of them not going to Heaven simply because I stayed silent.

If you have not yet accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, it’s never too late. All you have to do is pray:

*Heavenly Father, I choose You. Thank You for loving me enough to send Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins. Thank You for bringing Him back to life. I choose to make Him my Lord and Savior. I ask for Your forgiveness for all of my sins, and I ask that You renew me. I accept Your gift of salvation. From this moment on, I give my life to You to guide me. I love You and thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.*

If you prayed that prayer, I say, welcome to the family, my brother/sister! And I implore you to get connected with a local church. Tell them you have just given your life to Christ and want to find out how you can get baptized (__[Acts 2:38](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+2%3A38&version=NKJV)__).

Now, if you were already a believer, I want to reiterate that the most important question in life should be: *Where are they (friends, family and loved ones) going?*

Whenever you have an opportunity, share about the goodness of God in the land of the living (__[Psalm 27:13](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+27%3A13&version=NKJV)__). Tell your friends, family, loved ones and strangers alike about Jesus.

Share your testimonies with them when you have opportunities to do so. Love them wholeheartedly. Live your life as an example of who God is.

Tell them Jesus loves them. Show them that they can have the gift of salvation.

__Don’t wait. The next day isn’t promised to anyone. Not even the next hour, minute or second is.__
