Jesus doesn’t offer financial comfort. He offers eternal security. He offers himself.

Our Ultimate Treasure

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. — MATTHEW 13:44

Jesus doesn’t offer financial comfort. He offers eternal security. He offers himself.

WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY? A vacation? A hot cup of coffee? Watching your kids laugh? Reaching a financial milestone? These are good gifts—meant to be enjoyed. But even the best gifts can leave us wanting more.

The pursuit of joy isn’t wrong. But what if that chase is revealing something deeper about what we treasure?

You’re not alone if you’ve found it hard to hold on to joy. That’s why Jesus told the parable in Matthew 13:44. He paints a powerful picture: A man stumbles upon hidden treasure in a field. Overcome with joy, he sells everything he owns and buys the field.

Why? Because what he found is worth far more than anything he gave up. This, Jesus says, is what it’s like to discover the Kingdom of God.

When we focus on Jesus—His grace, His sufficiency—we realize that everything else we’ve been clinging to pales in comparison. The man in the parable isn’t making a sacrifice. He’s making a far greater trade.

When Jesus becomes your treasure, money loses its power to control you. You’re no longer tethered to the market, to your paycheck, or to your fears.

Your peace isn’t tied to your portfolio—it’s anchored in God’s unshakable Kingdom. Jesus doesn’t offer financial comfort. He offers eternal security. He offers Himself.

So, ask God to search your heart. Where is your treasure? What does your spending, saving, and giving say about what you value most?

Stewardship is ultimately a matter of the heart. And it begins by treasuring God above all else—because when He holds first place in our lives, everything else finds its rightful place.

You don’t have to go searching for peace. It’s found in Christ—who loves you unconditionally.

When God is your treasure, you already have enough.
